Behind the Scenes: In My Shoes
The LPfilms team has recently finished working with the BBC on a series of educational films titled ‘In My Shoes’ which follows the lives of children in China. Special thanks to Director Julika Kennaway, cameraman Brian Uranovsky and producer Jacqui Doughty and everyone at Walk Tall Media LTD. For more pictures check out our Weibo page.
Behind the Scenes: The Poseidon Project Final Shoot
We had a great final shoot on The Poseidon Project last week. We were looking for locations with watery back-drops for our last series of interviews with Steven Schwankert – author and explorer – who is at the heart of the story of the British submarine that sank off the coast of Weihai in 1931.
We found some very dramatic spots, but in the end went for a converted factory (now a “creative space”) at the end of Yichang Lu, overlooking Suzhou Creek. We put four cameras in place and some pretty atmospheric lighting and shot for most of the day. The final (magic) hour in particular produced some spectacular results.
Behind the Scenes: MARK shoot in Moganshan
Last weekend a crew of seventeen took to the hills of Moganshan to shoot the flashback sequences for our upcoming short film titled MARK. A special thanks to Mark and Joanna Kitto of Moganshan Lodge for their hospitality.
Behind the Scenes: Nutcracker Magic
Some pictures from our Nutcracker Magic shoot inside the Shanghai Cultural Square Theatre. LPfilms was there to capture the full dress rehearsal of the Nutcracker Magic show. We also got some B-roll backstage footage for a ‘making of’ documentary we are producing.
New Website Goes Live
LPfilms is happy to announce the launch of our new website. The site has been built completely in house by one of our own staff members, Stephen Wright, and is powered by WordPress. This interface is more flexible than our original website and will allow us to keep the site more up to date with our latest news and videos. So what else is new?
Homepage
We wanted people to see our showreel as soon as they landed on the site so we’ve moved it to the homepage. Below the showreel are our showcase videos, ones that we feel particularly proud of. We didn’t want the site to feel static so we also have the latest blog entry displayed on the home page.
Our Work
We’ve reformatted all of our old videos and added some new ones to work cohesively with the site’s built-in video player. You can navigate to these via the Our Work button in the top right hand menu.
Blog
We’ve included a blog section where we will be posting behind the scenes photos as well as news of upcoming events or releases.
Sidebar
We’ve also integrated a sidebar into many pages of the site. This sidebar is home to a live feed from our twitter stream, links to both Chinese and Western social media and an introduction to our staff members.
We are now working on a Chinese version so stay tuned for that.
If you do find any typos, broken links or errors on the new site we’d really appreciate it if you email us and let us know.
Behind the Scenes: InterTextiles Fair Shoot
On Tuesday LPfilms were at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre to shoot some footage of the InterTextiles Fair. The fair hosted over 3000 suppliers from 24 countries and regions and had over 60,000 buyers worldwide. That’s a lot of textiles.
Behind the Scenes: Rafael Nadal Shoot @ The Shanghai Hilton
On Tuesday, our team were at the Shanghai Hilton to shoot a video for Bacardi’s new campaign: Champions Drink Responsibly. The shoot included an interview with the campaign’s ambassador Rafael Nadal. Check out the pictures below:
Searching for budding writers for new comedy show

LostPensivos Films is launching a new comedy series and is looking for budding-writers to help generate ideas and plot devices.
The show, called High Spirits is about a group of modern city women who frequent a cocktail bar as a means of escape from the strains of life in Shanghai.
We’re looking for people to write a short anecdote about an incident they’ve experienced in a bar. The story should be no more than 100 words long and should be structured with a beginning, middle and end. Stories which take place in Shanghai are a plus.
Some examples:
Last week, feeling social, I went to a bar. During a trip to the dimly lit restroom, I fixed my makeup, and carefully penciled my sparse eyebrows. After an evening of meeting new people, I went home. In my well-lighted restroom, I discovered that my eyebrow pencil was actually my bright red lip liner.-
Yesterday, I had to walk through an extremely crowded pub wearing a sexy-santa outfit to get to a dress-up party at the back. When we got there, I soon discovered it wasn’t fancy dress, but just black-and-white themed -Today, I was at the bar with a date. My date made a joke about me being a slow drinker, so I tried to impress her by chugging the rest of my glass. She was impressed with how fast I chugged my beer, until it came back up. Bad times. The best stories will be published on our website and the authors of any which are adapted and used in the show will receive a writers credit.
We are also looking for writers to help with the show’s narrative arc. If you are interested please contact us.
