The 2009 Shanghai Golden Grand Prix advertisement played in Shanghai and across China during the summer of 2009, in the run up to the event itself, in September. Our brief was to produce a high quality TVC (with different cuts at 60, 30, 10 and 5 seconds) following the theme of this year’s event: “Sprint to the Finish”. The organizers wanted to focus the involvement of the champion hurdler, Liu Xiang, for whom this was the firts major event since the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
The advert tells the story of an imaginery relay race held across Shanghai, culminating in Liu Xiang himself joining the competition. We shot on super 16 film with the help of renowned cinematographer Lu Yuqing. The music was composed by Albert Yu.
All post-production work was done inhouse at LP Films' studios
